BERTILLA – Chardonnay Veneto IGT

The Chardonnay Bertilla by Thomas Conzato is a wine that surprises and defies expectations for a Chardonnay from Breganze. It showcases an unexpected elegance, thanks to its vibrant tension that provides freshness and drinkability, even with its impressive and almost Burgundian structure.

In the glass, it shines with a golden hue and bright reflections, hinting at its complexity and character. On the nose, it opens slowly, revealing a rich and layered bouquet: notes of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit like peach and apricot blend with hints of citrus, toasted hazelnut, melted butter, and a touch of minerality reminiscent of flint.

On the palate, its structure is bold, almost Burgundian, yet it retains an incredible drinkability. Its tension and well-balanced acidity keep the sip lively and dynamic, while the salinity underscores its profound connection to the terroir. The finish is long, enveloping, and intriguing, leaving a trail of mineral complexity and a subtle hint of acacia honey.

Chardonnay Bertilla is a wine that captivates with its balance of power and finesse, perfect for those seeking an experience that transcends common expectations. Ideal for pairing with bold dishes like fatty fish, white meats in sauce, or aged cheeses, it also delivers pure enjoyment on its own, sip after sip.

Description

Thomas Conzato is an explorer winemaker who practices agroecology and challenges his land with a free, conscious, and deeply respectful vision of nature. His approach is not merely a method but a thoughtful and authentic choice: respect for nature is his cornerstone.

“I don’t follow any ‘green religion’,” he states, “I feel one with my land and my vineyards.” His philosophy translates into practices far removed from standardization: no chemical or mechanical weeding, only regular mowing or alternating between rows, creating a grass cover that serves as thermal insulation and protection against sudden rainfall. This approach also enhances water absorption into the soil, contributing to natural balance and encouraging the proliferation of native wildlife.

As the symbol of his winery, Thomas chose the woodcock, the “queen of nature,” because it only lives in healthy and welcoming environments. This choice perfectly reflects his vision: preserving the integrity of the land in harmony with the biodiversity that makes it unique.
